Morten Martinussen was born in Bergen, Norway back in 1979, and has been living there since. Growing up in the 80s his attention was early turned toward the synthpop which dominated the charts back in then. During the late 80s and early 90s different styles of electronic music emerged and since then he has been following various genres of electronic music, with focus on the idm of the 90s aswell as the more beat oriented genres. In recent years he has been more oriented toward minimal techno and its related genres.
Often referred to as a living music encyclopedia, Morten is a very dedicated electronic music enthusiast and collector whose musical knowledge has come from years of collecting and studying the ever changing and expanding world of electronic music. Minimal-techno is the dominating style of focus, but his taste vary from italo-disco, early synth, detroit-techno/chicago-house, house, electro, idm and many other related genres. He is known as a secret source of underground dance music by dj’s and producers world wide.
Following his passion for music and film, Morten has also been doing some video-jockey work, and has been performing at a couple of arrangements in Bergen, Norway. Along with his friends in Bergen, they have been arranging club nights featuring artists like Legowelt, Samuel L Session, SkatebÂrd and many local artists and djs. Morten also continues to support the Norwegian scene through actively attending events in his hometown: a town wellknown for artists like Ismistik (Bj¯rn Torske), the Telle Records roster (R¯yksopp, Annie, Ralph Myerz, Bj¯rn Torske and so on), SkatebÂrd, Sex Tags label, Dj Teebee, Polar, Cave and many others. Considering the size and population of Bergen, the scene is quite impressive.
His love for the music scene and his passion for quality music is what ultimately led to his involvement with co-founding Impakt Recordings at the end of 2008. At Impakt Recordings, Morten brings his love for the music and the scene, serving as the A&R liaison for Europe and director over Impakt Radio, the worldwide net radio broadcast for all things Impakt. His focus is on recruitment, networking through local and international scenes, as well as artist management and grassroots promotion.
